Director and Founder

A great joy comes to my heart whenever a parent tells me: "Julian did a downward dog for us before dinner!" or "Ella greeted me with a Namaste this morning." That means what I teach is sticking! It's a personal goal of mine and for my students to integrate the gifts of yoga seamlessly into our daily lives.

April's portait April Cantor, RYT received her first certification to teach yoga with Integral Yoga in 1999. Since then she has facilitated Yoga-At-Work/Corporate Yoga programs at numerous companies in NYC, alongside teaching in studios and privately. In her former life April worked as a theater arts educator in the public school system teaching children the elements of performance and theater, while collaborating with teachers to adapt literature for stage. It was during that experience in the schools that April saw how students and teachers alike thirsted for and connected to a physical practice like yoga in helping with focus and body-mind awareness. April now blends her love for theater, movement, children and yoga into her SoulShine Life's Kids Yoga Adventures, which she brings to preschools and daycare centers throughout Brooklyn. On special occassions April leads Partner Yoga classes for parents with her husband Barry Blumenfeld. In her spare time April delights in outrigger paddling, paddleboarding on glassy, smooth waters and in watching her two sons make each other laugh.

April holds a BA in Visual Media/Communications from American University, DC. Her other certifications and trainings include Mindfulness and Movement with Move with Me Yoga Adventures, Anusara Yoga, therapeutic yoga, and Prenatal/Postpartum Yoga; and for children's yoga with Karma Kids, Asana Alphabet, Storytime Yoga, Next Generation Yoga and Mini Yogis. April is grateful for her most influential teachers: Amma, Mother Nature, her Family and her adventurous students. Namaste.
